Our activity in the German market continues under the legal entity “OPENLANE Deutschland Gmbh”, with entities in Wuppertal (North Rhine-Westphalia) and Ursensollen (Bavaria).
Why are we making this change?
In short, to make your life easier. The integrated European platform of OPENLANE lists more than 4,000 cars a day, with 100,000 registered dealers looking to make sales. That means you’ll be selling your cars on one of the biggest remarketing platforms in the EU – so you can buy more quickly, more securely and more easily than ever.
How will it work from now on?
You now have access to a website in over 20 languages, plus new kinds of auctions and innovative sales tools like a negotiation feature, due for release in early 2023.
Transactions on the new openlane.eu platform couldn’t be easier. OPENLANE takes care of every step, from auctioning to payment, document handling and EU-wide delivery. With two entities in Germany, you are sure to always have a contact person near you.
Your user account
In order to purchase vehicles on the European auction platform openlane.eu, you need a valid VAT number.
If you have deposited your VAT number with OPENLANE GWListe, we have been able to integrate your login data on openlane.eu as of 01 January 2023. All you have to do is create a new password under "Forgotten password" and you are ready to go! If you had user accounts on both platforms, we retained your account on openlane.eu, so you can continue to log in as usual. In case you should have any questions regarding your account, feel free to contact us here.

Managing your account will be self-explanatory and you will still be able to find the OPENLANE GWListe recommendations and auctions via our search filter on openlane.eu.
Successful purchase
You will receive purchase confirmation within 48 hours after the auction ends. The lead times for cross-border sales will be displayed when you bid.
Collection and vehicle documents
Vehicles can be collected from the specified "OPENLANE hubs", in some cases directly from the seller. For local sales you do not need any special documents, but for cross-border sales the situation is different. Here, OPENLANE takes care of the export documents.
Your documents will be sent to you by post as soon as the car is paid for.
Fee structure
Registration? Free of charge. Bidding? Free of charge. If you win an auction, certain fees will apply. The auction fee is tiered and depends on the value of the vehicle. The country fee covers the operating costs associated with the import of a car and does not apply to local sales within Germany.
